How Payments Work
ANIMEX uses iKhokha to process buyer and adopter payments. ANIMEX does not automatically split or release seller funds. Once a transaction is eligible, ANIMEX manually pays the verified seller or welfare organisation and records the payment.

Ordinary sale process
Buyer pays through iKhokha
When you click "Proceed to Checkout" you are redirected to iKhokha's secure payment page. Pay using card, EFT or another method supported by iKhokha.
ANIMEX verifies the payment
ANIMEX validates the iKhokha callback and records the transaction. The listing is reserved and the seller is notified to arrange fulfilment. The order is not yet completed and no payout has been released.
Fulfilment and review
The seller fulfils the order using the agreed handover method (buyer pickup, seller delivery, approved courier, or buyer-arranged transport). A review period then applies, during which the buyer can confirm receipt or raise an issue.
Manual seller payout
After the review period expires with no active dispute, refund or admin hold, ANIMEX calculates the amount due to the seller (gross sale minus a fixed 5% commission) and manually pays the seller's verified South African bank account. An administrator records the payment against the order.
Dispute protection
If something goes wrong, the buyer can open a dispute inside the review window. Payouts are placed on hold while ANIMEX reviews the evidence and reaches a determination.
Adoption process
Adoptions are managed by approved welfare organisations and approved rescues, not by ANIMEX. The organisation controls its own screening, approval and welfare procedures. ANIMEX facilitates the messaging, application workflow and payment.
- The organisation sets its own adoption fee. Payment does not guarantee approval.
- Payment is only requested at the appropriate approved stage of the application.
- The adopter pays the organisation's adoption fee plus a flat R25.00 ANIMEX service fee.
- The organisation receives 100% of its adoption fee via ANIMEX's manual payout process. ANIMEX charges no commission on adoptions.
